We have installed an off grid solar system on a game ranch in the Waterberg.
The installation was done because the client has built new buildings near the dam
And it had no Eskom line near it so the client had chosen to go with an off grid system.
The solar system is a 10kw off grid system which consists of 40x 255watt Trina solar panels,
1x48/10000/140-100/100 Victron quattro 10kw inverter, 2x Smart Solar MPPT 250/100-Tr,1x Color Control panel
6x BYD B-Plus 2.56Kwh Batteries.2x Batteries Cabinet. The solar panels were installed on a workshop roof and it was a north south installation.
The reason for the north south installation was because of space on the roof so we had to put on the south side.
The off-grid system is in use every day, its used for all house hold use including standard 2kilowatt geyser, dishwasher, deepfreeze ,fridges and washing machine,

How Does Solar Work?
A solar PV system is made up of two main components:

Solar PV Panels
These panels convert sunlight into a Direct Current (DC).
String Inverters
The Direct Current (DC) is fed into a string inverter, which converts the DC to an Alternating Current (AC). This is then used in your building’s electrical network to offset the electricity requirement from the grid.
